Ummm just too many characters? And the use of ecchi cliches.

<p>Even tough i like Danmachi many things bug me.  </p><p>1. Why is every significant character in the hestia Familia basicly weak trash. I mean at least Welf and the entire Take Familia are doing this for years (i think of 8 years), So why are they on the lvls of lvl 1-2. When at least someone like Welf and Ouka would be lvl 3 or 4 they would be useful right now and just imagine a Mikoto that was lvl 2 and could lvl up to lvl 3 without it being plot hole in the series this goes as well for the other Take children. </p><p>2. Why does Mikoto love Take and Chigusa love Ouka. Maybe its just me but that disgusts me on a very high level. Take raised Mikoto as she where his own child but she loves him romanticly i find this wrong and disgusting this goes as well for Chigusa and Ouka, they grew up as siblings but she loves him it is ...... Even tough this hurts that goes as well for Welf. Why does he love Heph? She practicly raised you after your escape from Rakia, isnt it a bit too much just to fall in with her for this or did i forgot something important why he does love her. Seriously i have huge problem with anything regarding a romanticly God x Mortal relationship. </p><p>3. The Dungeon is just a joke with the amount of Plot Armor the Hestia Familia except bell has. Vol 13 and 14 showed this really well. Why arent all of them dead? They fought against an irregular twin headed dragon that is supposed to be lvl 5 and in water lvl 6. So why arent all of them dead? Haruhimes magic wont do shit here just because the lvl difference is too big and they where only 7 to fight that thing and most of them are just lvl 2.  </p><p>4. The Harem is just getting out of hand. Someone like Eina shouldnt be needed in this Harem. She should just stayed as Bells big sister figure where he can talk to normally or get advise about girls or other things but no she needs to be added. Even tough many people will hate me for this but i as well find Ryuu superfluos in this just because Bell will never ever return the feelings of her. Bell loves Aiz and only her so why cant the author stop to add more to his he will break there hearts in the future gang. </p><p>5. I actually like Bell but he didnt develop much in comparing to his beginning self. He is still too naive, to trust worthy of peoply, doesnt have at least a little bit of self confident. After bell gone trough so many hard things he still didnt change much and goddamn he is the MC of this series someone like lily or Welf had more develop them him. </p><p>6. The Powercreep. Do i need to write more. No one except Bell, Ottar and the unknown lvl 7 are going to be usefull in the fight against the OEBD everyone below lvl 7 will be just ragdoll and playthings for that thing. I even doubt that lvl 7s would do much against the that. </p>

<p>1) Characters - everyone has some sob story background with flawed personalities or value systems. Might have been find with one or two characters, but essentially most of the cast on both Main and SO are like that. Omori can barely give depth to his characters so does he concentrate on a few? Nope, he adds more characters who are nothing but stereotypical, anime tropes walking on two legs. </p><p>2) Setting - I more or less agree with the general premise Meta Discussion Thread posted by Kevhunt. It all boils down to: too much tell not much show.  </p><p>3) Themes - I really hate this "Hero" thing. They slay monsters in th dungeon for money. How is that heroic? They're not going across the continent killing monster for FREE. You'd think Bell would want to after his grandfather was 'killed' by them. Or Bete going on a crusade until every mosnter not exisitng inside the dungeon was slain. </p><p>Hell Finn doing the same thing. He wants to lift up the spirits of his race? Then what is he still doing in Orario. It's one city. How is acheiveing arbitrary numbers called "Levels" going to raise the esteem of his race?  There are no newspapers, no television, no internet or other form of communication that could spread one's reputation far and wide. Vast majority of people aren't even in Familias. Most people outisde Orario would probably go: </p><p>"A Prum reached Level 6" </p><p>"Is that high?" </p><p>"You need more than one hand to count it, so it must be" </p><p>Finn (and other Hero wannabees) are not using their literal god given powers to improve infrastrucutre, agiculture, or society as a whole. They want to be celebrities, not heroes.  </p>

<p>Too many women who have a thing for Bell. In Danmachi and Sword Oratoria the author is setting up for Bell Cranel and Ais Wallenstein to become a Couple. Yet he feels like he has to keep adding more and more women that like him. If they just kept it with Ais, Ryuu, and Freya then that would have been fine. Just have the others be good friends and family. </p>

<p>I agree, there was no reason Bell needed to be so young, but I guess it was the author trying to portray a pure and naive kid </p>

<p>This is a problem with the level system; it's too rigid to allow for growth, not to mention the author wanted to have Bell be the "hero" and save/help them, and he "heroes" are about saving those weaker than themselves, right? </p> <div class="quote"><i> <p>2. <p>Eh, I don't really care about Ouka and Chigusa but Mikoto's love feels like admiration/familial love for a parental figure rather than actual love. <p>This, exactly this. Lots of female characters are unnaturally attracted to Bell when there's like zero need for it, all for the sake of pandering to fans. This makes sense for characters that actually get a developed relationship like Ryuu but Eina? No way. On the subject of romance, the author can't even write Ais properly without having to shaft her development to a spinoff that he claims is "optional" </p> <div class="quote"><i> <p>5. <p>Bell has like no development until volume 12 when he suddenly matures, and then right after in volume 13 he reverts back to his previous self again </p>

<p>Exactly, and this is why DanMachi characters are so dull for me. Everyone has literally the same backstory with a few adjustments like place and situation. <p>This is the problem of having the only dungeon in the world be in Orario; there's really no reason to explore the outside world, and it also creates the level disparity which makes it plot convenience when a high level person appears   </p> <div class="quote"><i> <p>3) Themes - I really hate this "Hero" thing. <p>It's heroic to the masses because they're stopping the monsters from leaving the dungeon. That being said, it does get repetitive and pretty boring, especially with the terrible leveling system and restricted access to the dungeon </p><p>Actually, Finn and the rest of the Loki Familia's levels are widely known in the world, but I do agree that his method of lifting the spirits of his race makes no sense. How does Finn getting levels cause others of his race to suddenly decide to become positive and/or become adventurers themselves? He's really only enriching his own life, not the lives of others </p><p>While there are many types of heroes, I do agree with your comment that they're more like celebrities </p>

<p>It's not about getting levels, it's about showing himself as a famous individual that they can look up to and aspire towards, proof that they can accomplish their dreams. I can tell you from experience that this stuff actually works IRL. </p>
