This is what happens when you increase the size of Bell's harem for no reason. Most of the girls don't even need to be in love with him
As for Ais' arc, it'll most likely be after the current Freya arc considering there's pretty much nothing left to cover, unless the author makes another arc that hasn't been hinted so far. However, unlike Sword Oratoria I don't really see Bell and the Hestia Familia leaving Orario
Thanks for the answer @Angelo Gabrini do you give any possibility to harem? I personally don't but Ais lacks what it takes to be main girl since she is basically is not in MS.
I don't really care about ships in this series anymore, but it's really up to the author on what he wants to do with his own series
These are just my thoughts on the current harem of Danmachi so if I offended someone's best girl don't take it personally ok?
To start I really do not like the harem genre. It's honestly shallow as hell and gets tiring to watch after the first few harems unless you enjoy the idea of a harem. Everyone has their own tastes after all. If we were to cut down on the harem members about all of them don't need to be harem members to be in this story they can function fine without being one. Ais is sort of the goal the protagonist has set upon himself but she's not really in the harem yet. And tbh considering she has her own goals if Bell wasn't so fixated on her she probably wouldn't even be a candidate. I think Ais is totally fine on her own personally.
Syr/Freya is fine if she was more of an antagonist rather than a harem candidate. I doubt we can completely avoid her not being in love with Bell since that's her whole thing with her being attracted to interesting people and shiny souls.
Hestia and Cass have the shallowest reasons by far to even be in this harem. Well Cass at least knows she's being shallow. I honestly wonder why the author even bothered especially since Hestia is painful to read through when she is mindless for Bell which is 90% of her time. The time where she isn't on Bell is her best time since I actually see her as a real person and not a "Bell-kun!!!" machine.
Lili and Haru do fall into the overused excuse "Oh you saved me so I have to fall in love with you." Like ok it's not as shallow as Hestia or Cass since they almost died and compared to other examples of this excuse it really isn't so bad but there are ways to avoid this with them as well. You could simply make them grateful like Mikoto is to Bell and avoid romance entirely.
Ryuu on the other hand is pretty much in the same situation as Ais. She's perfectly fine as an individual character and she can handle her life fine after surpassing her past in V14. You could make it so she's grateful to Bell and repay him for his help but she was the one who saved him at the last fight in the end and taught him how to survive in the Deep Floors. She probably helped him more times than he ever helped her with her knowledge so she doesn't have to be overly grateful or join the harem just for this.
Honestly, I don't think this is just a Danmachi problem but a general problem with a lot of LN's adding harem girls because they think it will sell and end up making things more unnecessary than they have to. It's because of stuff like this that I end up preferring the series that can actually make a decent relationship with a girl that doesn't have to be in the MC's harem but just a good friend that helps them along with their life. I don't know why it's so hard to make a normal relationship between two people instead of always adding more girls to a harem with LNs. Some characters even suffer and lose what makes them special because of this.
Ais is the only choice in the end because that's what the series has been building up and she isn't even my favorite girl. No one and harem is trash choices and if the author does it then they are definitely trash.
Ais is the only acceptable ending
What do you think?
