Well I believe the familia rank system being ranked from I to S is based off of adventurers statuses being ranked from I to S, yes SS and SSS exist but famila rank is issued by the guild and the guild don't know about Bells status reaching SS and SSS as far as I know meaning they wouldn't rank a familia as SS or SSS.

So if a familia only has a Lv1 with S status then the familia rank is S? That doesn’t make any sense.

Familia rank is determined by the overall strength of the familia. For example, D rank is given to familias that have the strength to defeat a Lv4 monster which Apollo Familia proven by defeating Goliath many times and Hestia Familia received the rank when Bell became Lv4. Commercial type familias can increase their rank further by the success of their business.

Sorry bit of a misunderstanding with how I worded it. I wasn't trying to say that the familia rank is based off the status of the adventurer from that familia but that both adventurer status' and familia ranks would use the same letter based ranking system and if this is the case then there would be no SS or SSS rank familias because the guild is unaware that the status can go that far.
