Because the Girl Wished to Keep Watching Over Him Forever (ずっと見守り続けたいと少女は願ったから) is a special short story given to those who purchased volume 17 of DanMachi in Gamers.
Summary[]
Tiona felt like she wanted to read the story of Argonaut. However, when she started to read it, she was unable to enjoy it even though it was her favorite heroic tale. As she silently looked at the pages, her heart felt a great sadness when she saw a picture of the hero and princess looking at each other.
Tiona muttered to herself that she couldn't become the princess, listing in her mind all of her characteristics that prevented her from having the grace and beauty of the princesses in stories. Someone like Ais seemed better suited for that role. She thought that the role of a character who watched and supported the hero from offstage was more appropriate for her.
Still not knowing which "hero" she wanted to continue watching, Tiona was overwhelmed by a feeling of loneliness that she couldn't understand. Turning the pages, she felt like the evil woman who had teased the hero was looking at her as if she was mocking her, or perhaps as if she felt sorry for her.
The woman advised her that while it was fine to be an observer, there would come a time when she would regret it if she didn't go on stage, just like her. With those words Tiona felt like she wanted to cry like a child. The difference between Ais, who held the boy's hand, and Tiona, who couldn't remember him, was that she wanted to be a fan of the "hero."
