Dix Perdix (獣の夢(ディックス・ペルディクス)) is the seventh episode of the third season of the DanMachi anime.

Synopsis[]

Never underestimate the measures a fanatic will take to prove his worldview correct.

Plot[]

The grapple between the Xenos and the Ikelos Familia commences. Bell and Dix continue their fight, Bell soon being sliced by Dix's cursed spear, leaving an open wound on the side of his face which Dix explains cannot be healed with any magic or potion.

Meanwhile, Ilta and Shakti have captured nearly all of the Xenos outside of Knossos, when Arles and Asterius appear.

In Knossos, Dix begins to explain the Daedalus bloodline's curse; they obsess over finishing the labyrinth, causing their heads to throb and eyes to ache, being tormented by this regardless of their personal feelings over the labyrinth. He further mentions that he used to come to the labyrinth to slay monsters to get his mind off of it, and that when he found Monsters that could actually speak, hearing their screams were the only thing that satisfied him. Such became his motivation, Ikelos referring to it as his "Dream of Beasts".

Back in the forest, Asterius has cut down all of the Ganesha Familia and their helping forces, Ryuu being the last of the forces standing before soon being defeated. After Rhett's howl, Asterius stands down and walks away, leaving Ryuu puzzled why she was not killed.

Bell tries to convince Dix that the Xenos should be spared, but Dix doesn't buy any of it. He leads Bell into a separate area, mentioning that he believes Bell has a crush on the Vouivre. In the new area, Bell sees Wiene tied up and begging him for help. Dix walks behind Wiene and asks Bell what he think would happen if he were to rip the red stone out of her head. Bell rushes toward them but Dix rips it out before he can reach them. Due to this, Wiene then reverts to her monster form and begins attacking Bell. In spite of Dix's demoralizing banter, Bell refuses to attack Wiene. As she slams her hand into his shoulder, he stands still and tells her that he'll be fine, which causes her to begin remembering the times they had together, leaving her conflicted. After Wiene stops attacking Bell, Dix resumes fighting him, asking him why he insists on protecting the monsters. In the flurry of attacks, Bell has a moment of focus and breaks Dix's spear. Bell exclaims that it doesn't matter if someone is human or monster, and that if he is asked for help then it is good enough for him. Dix still manages to defeat Bell, and when he is about to land the final blow, he is sliced in the back by Lyd. Bell's words are revealed to have hit a chord with Lyd and the other Xenos, as the Ikelos Familia begins losing ground by the reinvigorated Xenos. Bell returns to his feet as he joins Lyd in the fight with Dix. The two overwhelm him, Bell soon landing a devastating blow on Dix, sending him into the wall, leaving a whole in the labyrinth wall. The curse placed by Dix is now lifted, but Dix still manages to stand back up, showing that he still has Wiene's stone. He throws it behind him, going through the hole in the wall and almost falling off the ledge, but Bell and Lyd manage to catch it. As they retrieve it, Dix puts an illusionary curse on Wiene, before setting her free to the surface to cause chaos. Dix escapes while Bell and Fels head after Wiene, soon followed by the Xenos.

On the surface, the Hestia Familia are still searching for the enemy hideout on Daedalus Street when Wiene appears and begins her rampage, nearly about to hit Haruhime, before being saved by Bell. When Bell is preparing to return the stone to her head, the Loki Familia and Ais stand atop a building, throwing a spear through her shoulder. Beginning to panic, Bell stands between Wiene and the Loki Familia, protecting Wiene.
