A Fleeting Dream (
Synopsis[]
Bell and Mikoto are in grave danger, and only Haruhime can save them. Why is the Renard so important to the Ishtar Familia? The truth is more horrifying than anyone imagined.
Plot[]
Although Mikoto comes to Bell's rescue, she's defeated by Aisha as is Bell whom is incapacitated by her. The person who cast the enchantment on Aisha is revealed to be Haruhime.
Awakening in a stone brick room filled with all sorts of restraining prison items somewhere in the Ishtar Familia Base. Bell finds himself shackled and chained to a wall and is then approached by Phryne. To prevent Phryne from having her way with Bell, Aisha orders the Ishtar Familia members to hunt down Phryne. In the dungeon cells of the base, Mikoto awakens and is given the keys to her cell by Haruhime, who apologizes and leaves her. Back to Bell who is at Phryne's mercy, she leaves Bell in there to prepare what she has in store for him. With Phryne out of the picture, Haruhime enters the room and releases Bell. Thankful for rescuing him, Bell embraces Haruhime, which makes her happy.
Meanwhile, the Ishtar Familia on the prowl continues searching for Bell. Mikoto also searches for Bell using her magic Yatanoshirogarasu, but the spell isn't able to detect him. Back in what was called Phyrne's private room, Phryne finds out that Bell has escaped and screams Haruhime's name in a fit of rage. Elsewhere, Haruhime and Bell, walk through a secret passageway leading out of the base. As they walk through it Bell thanks Haruhime for rescuing him and finds out that Mikoto should be fine too as she was given the keys to her cell. Concerned for Haruhime that she'll suffer consequences for her disobedience from Phyrne. Bell is reassured by Haruhime that she's made peace with what's to come to her. While trying to not alert the Ishtar Familia of her presence, Mikoto finds a book on the "Killing Stone Ritual".
Although Haruhime has accepted her fate and believes that leniency will be granted toward her. On the other hand, Bell still insists on rescuing her as Bell and Mikoto want to. Hearing this makes Haruhime feel happy and starts to cry. Outside, as the Ishtar Familia member searches the streets for Bell, a cat beastman curses having to search for Bell.
At the Hestia's Mansion, Takemikazuchi and his Familia are informed of the circumstances surrounding Mikoto and Bell's disappearance. In the discussion, many variables are assumed as to why the Ishtar Familiar would kidnap Bell and Mikoto. It's the topic of the Killing Stone that Takemikazuchi reveals that it's a dark magic ritual that seals away the soul of Renard. This allows the user to be capable of using Renard magic called Youjoutsu. Furthermore, once a Killing Stone is shattered, the soul inside it is unable to be restored. And since a full moon is necessary to complete the ritual, which just so happens to be that very night.
Finally outside in the streets of Orario, just before Bell and Haruhime separate. Mikoto regroups with the two and Mikoto immediately brings up the Killing Stone and whether she knows about it. Haruhime gives no answers, but acts in a way that she's aware of it. Just then, Aisha appears and takes Haruhime from the group and reveals that the Ishtar Familia goal is to start a war with the Freya Familia. To achieve the power necessary for such a feat, they'll have to use the Rank boosting magic that Haruhime can use by harnessing it from the Killing Stone. Vowing to take by Haruhime, Aisha informs the intrepid Bell that he'd start a war with the Ishtar Familia.
Before the other Ishtar Familia members arrive, Aisha tells a bit of a backstory involving Haruhime.
