Gareth Landrock (ガレス・ランドロック) is a first class adventurer and a top executive of the Loki Familia. He is the reincarnation of the legendary hero Galmuza.
Appearance[]
Gareth has brown eyes and long brown hair along with facial hair of the same color that is long enough to form a beard. He wears a battle cloth and boots, adding a horned helmet and armor onto it when he ventures into the dungeon.
Personality[]
Gareth is a good-natured and kind person, acting as a father figure to members like Bete. He usually takes a protective attitude towards his Familia members in addition to helping them improve as adventurers. He feels responsible for their safety, blaming himself for the deaths of Line and the others on their first assault to Knossos.
His protective instinct is present all the time. He does not hesitate to stand between them and danger, more than willing to serve as a human shield in order to protect them. In their expeditions, he always takes a rearguard position in order to protect them more easily, superimposing his sense of duty over his love for battles.
He possesses a laid-back demeanor and is more forgiving than Finn and Riveria with the young members. After she left her position during a battle on the 49th Floor, they both severely disapproved of Ais' actions. However, Gareth decided to let her go after only a brief scold, presenting arguments in her favor to convince Finn.
Although he initially disliked them, he ended up forging a strong friendship over the years with Finn and Riveria. The three of them usually talk to each other about various matters and have great confidence. He is a faithful friend who supports his companions in all their decisions.
As a result of having lived with them for so long, Gareth knows perfectly his friends and their processes of acting and thinking about him. In the final battle at Knossos, he instantly noticed that Lili was not Finn, seeing through Cinder Ella, while also realizing just as quickly that the change had been Finn's idea.
Despite the fact that he is typically cheerful and friendly, his attitude changes when dealing with Mia. They share a mutual enmity and are annoyed when talking to each other. His dislike appears to be significant, complaining to Finn when he jokingly suggested that Gareth missed working together with her.
He loves alcohol and drinks it regularly when he eats. However, he isn't greedy and tries to keep it just for himself; as he is more than happy to share it, enjoying drinking in the company of colleagues and friends. Still, he knows to moderate when necessary. During a party at his Familia's camp, he declined an invitation from Tsubaki to drink, as he was aware of his position as a leader.
While Gareth drinks mainly for pleasure, he too seems to have a competitive side to the subject, showing that he has a certain pride in his high resistance to alcohol. He used to compete with Zald over who was able to drink more every time they met. He was persistent in his quest to face him, as he continued to challenge him despite having lost to him on more than one occasion.
Gareth is passionate about heated battles. The excitement he feels is a rewarding experience for him and his main motivation to be an adventurer. Being able to dive into intense combat has proven to be an important part of his life. Prior to becoming an adventurer, Gareth was a listless person and generally showed disinterest towards everything. He was dissatisfied with his life and longed to be able to experience a true combat. Currently, as an adventurer, his behavior denotes a considerable improvement compared to his previous self.
Likewise, he is excited by challenges and expresses joy when one is presented to him, even if he is in the middle of an important mission. He is also interested in warriors who perform amazing feats, taking an interest in Bell upon hearing of his fight against the Minotaur from the 9th Floor.
History[]
Before Gareth joined the Loki Familia, he worked as a miner, working in various mines located in his homeland. He was known for going on business trips to dangerous volcanoes, finding several deposits of silver, and helping with work on an underground tunnel.
One day in a tavern in the city of Karuna he met Loki, Riveria and Finn, who after having a brief fight with him decided to recruit him. Despite his initial refusal, he eventually agreed to join Loki Familia and left with them. They traveled around the world for a few years. He ranked up along them after four years of starting their journey.
Some time later, he and the rest were taken care of by Njord before they entered Orario. Once Gareth arrived to the city, thanks to his combat ability, he grew remarkably as an adventurer under her mentors' tutelage, ranking up several times at an accelerated rate. Fifteen years ago he served as a supporter for the Zeus and Hera Familias in the battle against the Behemoth and witnessed the subjugation of the legendary beast. He reached Level 6 seven years ago after defeating the Delphyne along with Riveria, Ais, and the Astraea Familia during the Great Feud.
Abilities[]
While still Level 6s, Gareth, along with Finn and Riveria, was called the strongest fighting force of the Loki Familia. However, despite his great power, he does not usually show it since he is always in the rear to protect the rest of his Familia. Following the announcement of the three top executives' ranks up to Level 7, Loki considered that even Ottar wasn't a big deal anymore.
Immense Physical Prowess: As a Level 7, Gareth's physical abilities are all immeasurably superior compared to those of a normal person. In terms of raw physical prowess, his abilities are also far superior to those of any Level 6 or below.
Immense Strength: Gareth is endowed with an immeasurable strength that makes him the strongest member of his familia. As a Level 6, he knocked down a Valgang Dragon, a gigantic ten meter tall monster, with one blow. He then grabbed the monster by its tail and spun it several times with increasing speed and destructive power, repelling all monsters that tried to get close including other Valgang Dragons, finally launching it a considerable distance with enough power to annihilate a flock of Ill Wyverns beyond recognition, take down five Valgang Dragons and create a huge, loud explosion once it ended up buried into a distant stone wall.
In the battle with the Titan Alm Demi Spirit he created a hole large enough to allow his teammates to pass through the wall of tentacles erected by the Demi Spirit, a defense that even a high Level 6 Finn empowered by Hell Finegas and a high Level 5 Bete could not managed to break through together, by himself using his ax and mostly his fists. In Knossos, he managed to destroy a wall of pure adamantite using only his fists.
Although his weaponry is extremely heavy, he had been shown to wield his axe without any difficulty, a feat that only a few can do. Even his axe, despite being made by Tsubaki, the best blacksmith in Orario, was unable to resist the full extent of his strength, requiring the smith to make a new one for him regularly. After reaching Level 7, his strength greatly increased.
Immense Speed, Agility, and Reflexes: Gareth is an extremely fast individual. As a Level 6, when facing a Valgang Dragon upon his arrival on the 58th Floor, he moved at such speed that he seemed to disappear and impressed a bunch of high Level 5s Tiona, Tione and Bete. He could keep up with the speed of high Level 6s Riveria and Finn. After reaching Level 7 his speed, agility, and reflexes greatly increased.
Immense Durability: Gareth is most resilient member of his familia. He possess a surprising resilience to damage and extreme temperatures. As a Level 6, he survived being directly hit by the Titan Alm Demi Spirit's Firestorm, an attack that completely devastated the 59th Floor, and withstood the blast of multiple Kaensekis. In the battle with the Xenos, he overcame the assault of almost all of Welf's magic swords, some of which had been able to deal even with Tiona and Tione; Gareth was even able to withstand the blizzards of his most powerful ice sword, whose potential was on par with Riveria's Wynn Fimbulvetr. After reaching Level 7 his durability greatly increased.
Immense Endurance: Gareth has displayed an uncanny tolerance to damage and pain as well as a fascinating vitality that allows him to perform arduous and grueling feats, thanks to which he has repeatedly continued to fight no matter the severity of his condition. In the Loki Familia expedition, after his arrival on the 58th Floor, he faced a huge swarm of monsters for eight straight hours without showing any signs of fatigue, unlike Tiona, Tione, and Bete who were considerably exhausted. Later, in the battle with the Titan Alm Demi Spirit, he was able to get up after his skin was charred by the Demi Spirit's Firestorm and subsequently continued to fight even after being impaled by multiple tentacles.
In the battle on the Daedalus Street he could only be held back by the blizzards from Welf's mightiest ice sword, whose potential was on par with Riveria's Wynn Fimbulvetr, in conjuction with the continuous assault from various members of Evilus and Valgs, predicament that he endured for a considerable period of time until he was eventually able to free himself. After the confrontation with the Power Bull Demi Spirit, he was the only one still able to move, with Tiona and Tione being completely tired, and had enough energy left to carry the pair of Amazonesses.
Skilled Fighter: Even before becoming an adventurer, Gareth was a highly capable fighter thanks to his multiple encounters with surface monsters, being able to easily deal with them. His combat ability surprised Finn, who upon seeing it decided to recruit him to his familia, and later allowing him to progress and level up quickly. Having not only more combat experience than Ais, his knowledge of techniques and strategy make him much more powerful than his status alone indicates.
In addition to that, he is very skilled in teamwork with the other members of his Familia, specially Finn and Riveria. Having fought together longer than any other team, the three exhibit superb teamwork and perfect coordination. Even though they were still Level 6s and their opponent was Level 7 in terms of power, they were able to overwhelm Revis with a torrent of continuous attacks from three different directions; Gareth made up for their lack of power with his top-tier strength while Finn and Riveria worked together to nip her counterattacks.
Experienced Commander: Gareth seems to be considerably skillful as a commander, supporting Lili in her role as one and occasionally suggesting better alternatives than hers during the final battle in Knossos.
Enhanced Senses: After acquiring his falna, Gareth's senses became much better than those of a normal person. His senses further improved with each subsequent rank up.

Earth Raid (アースレイド): Earth Raid enables Gareth to destroy the ground. Its strength is affected by his Strength stat, and it can only be cast when he is on the ground.
