Hermes (ヘルメス) is the head of the Hermes Familia.

Appearance[]

Hermes has blonde hair and orange eyes. He wears a feathered hat. He is slender and of medium height with skinny arms and legs sticking out of his clothes, with orange hair with flowing locks. He also has effeminate looks and an overwhelming charm.

Personality[]

At first glance, Hermes has a casual and playful personality. He acts casual and relaxed most of the time, presenting himself as a sociable and open God.

He is a carefree God who tends to downplay his responsibilities, usually leaving them to Asfi or the rest of his Familia. According to this trait, he prefers to avoid problems and maintain a neutral position. As an entrepreneur, he has established a confidentiality policy, not revealing to anyone the merchandise that he delivers to his clients.

On the other hand, he is a pervert who enjoys spying on beautiful women bathing and shares Zeus's beliefs that doing so is a man's duty just as having a harem is every man's dream.

However, his true nature is someone who is sharp, shrewd, and cunning, who turns serious when necessary. He is eloquent in speech as he is skilled in holding his own when it comes to sounding other people. Likewise, he is a skilled manipulator capable of outwitting both mortals and Gods into acting according to his plans, having cleverly manipulated Ishtar and Freya so that the latter would destroy the former.

Contrary to the facade with which he usually presents himself, Hermes is a mysterious God of many secrets who hides some of his intentions from most people. He is unscrupulous and more than willing to resort to dirty methods if necessary. Many times he has tricked and extorted in order to achieve his objectives. He has even gone so far as to betray his allies.

Aware of the significant value that information can have, he has turned his Familia into a group specialized in collecting it. Driven by this very motive, he forces his members to obtain vital information from different Familias so he is prepared in case he needs something to blackmail them with at some point.

One of the most characteristic features of him is his firm belief that the world desperately requires a new hero who takes down the One Eyed Black Dragon. Hermes made the creation of that hero one of his top priorities, if not his utmost one, declaring that he is willing to do whatever it takes to create him. Upon learning of Bell's existence and his accomplishments, believing that he could be said hero, he chose to expose him to the grotesque side of adventurers by confronting Mord as a way to test him. He didn't care if it ended up breaking the boy, commenting that in said case it would simply have meant that he was not the one.

After contemplating Bell's actions on the 18th Floor, Hermes became convinced that he is the hero the world needs, which is why he is determined to turn him into such a figure. He has seen several battles that have raged in Orario as opportunities to make the young adventurer grow. During the invasion of Rakia he considered the idea of having Bell face the soldiers of the invading country, stopping only to avoid Freya's wrath. Likewise, he thinks maintaining a good reputation is an important piece of it, prioritizing to restore the positive opinion that Orario's citizens had of Bell after he earned their hatred for helping the Xenos. After the incident he made it clear that his support was unconditional, assuring Bell that he would continue to support him even if he hated him.

Although he cooperates with Ouranos to ensure their safety, the truth is that Hermes does not care about the Xenos. Furthermore, he dislikes the intelligent monsters and considers Ouranos's wish for peace between people and Xenos to be an impossible and ridiculous dream.

However, despite his numerous questionable actions, Hermes is a God who genuinely cares about people, Orario, and ultimately the world, looking out for its safety and well-being. He also has a generous side, as he rescued Asfi from her previous life, and is a good friend, elaborating a plan to get Bell to dance with Ais upon seeing his interest in her. He also explained to the boy and Mikoto how they could get Haruhime out of the Ishtar Familia upon learning that they wanted to free her. At the same time, he proved willing to break his work policies if the situation warranted, as he revealed to them that he had given Ishtar a Killing Stone when they mentioned that Haruhime was a Renard.

In general, he is a faithful follower of Zeus who fulfills any errand that the elder God entrusts to him, in addition to frequently sending him reports.

Hermes is fascinated by heroes and is firmly confident that the remarkable adventurers of the current generation will play an important role that will leave a mark in history. He has a great interest in witnessing how the story of the world unfolds, exalted at the idea that he will be able to witness it himself.
