Instead of Goodbye - Thanks (サヨナラの代わりに──アリガトウ) is a special short story given to those who purchased volume 8 of Sword Oratoria in Gamers.
Summary[]
Just before she died, Line remembered one day that Bete had saved her and others. After the incident, she had acknowledged that she was still one of the weaklings he spoke of, but pointed out that she was capable of healing him, so she asked him if she could follow him.
Bete told her to do whatever she wanted, and to heal him if she could do it. His words had made her extremely happy. Line had wanted to one day heal his "wounds", but that wish would never come true now.
In the present, as Bete's taunts echoed in the Knossos room, Line thought that his words were directed to the afterlife and how even now he was carrying out the will of the strong. How he was fulfilling the responsibilities of a strong man, a very strong and wounded wolf.
She deeply regretted breaking her promise and "hurting" Bete. Just as his words said, Line was ashamed and regretted having remained weak until the end. With the sounds around her fading and her vision becoming narrow, she felt like her death was near. As she lay in Ais' arms, the only thing in her eyes now was Bete.
Seeing her eyes filled with apologies and regret, Bete's face of contempt disappeared. The Werewolf called her a fool and muttered that he had already been saved enough by her hands. Hearing this, Line's eyes widened and tears fell from them. After making a small smile, she slowly closed her eyes with a serene expression, as if her little love had been rewarded.
With those warm feelings in her heart, the girl passed away, having been saved. Her last thought was about how happy she was to have fallen in love with him.
