Information

The King of Lakrios is a character in DanMachi ~Memoria Freese~.

Personality[]

The king presented himself as caring for the country, while in actuality he would do anything to keep Minos, admitting to sacrificing his parents, wife, brothers, and sisters to keep the chain controlling the Minotaur working.

He believed in the policy that the end justifies the means, willing to sacrifice his family to preserve the peace of the capital. The years of being forced to give his own family as an offering for Minos ended up seriously deteriorating his mind until he ended up driven mad. Disturbed by his experiences, he got rid of his emotional attachments and focused solely on fulfilling his work.

He prioritized more than anything the preservation of the power of the chain and Minos, willing to kill anyone who attempted against the Minotaur. He tended to scoff at those who opposed him when he thought they were cornered, having laughed at Argonaut on numerous occasions.

However, even in his haggard state of mind, the king showed himself still capable of affection. Even after the time came when Ariadne was to be sacrificed he refused to do so, waiting until the last possible moment due to the fatherly affection he still felt for her. Likewise, it was later revealed that he sincerely loved one of his wives and kept his daughter Olna away from it all by hiding her identity to protect her.

Abilities[]

Equipment[]

Mysterious Chain (神秘の鎖): A chain that descended from Heaven, which was supposedly unbreakable and emitted a mysterious glow. As an artifact its power was far greater than that of Spirits. It allowed the king to control whichever being he enchained with it, an ability that he used to control Minos and force him to obey all his orders without it being able to oppose him.

The king could also grant a shard of the chain to others so that they could cast the same control over other monsters while he kept the chain. However, the power of the shards was singificantly weak compared to the entire chain, allowing said people to exert such control for only a short period of time.

To maintain the power of the chain it was necessary for the king to feed the beast with someone of his blood every few years. On top of that, if the power was severely weakened, there was a possibility that Minos might oppose his orders. The chain was destroyed by Minos prior to his second duel with Argonaut.
