The boat '''Hringhorni''' (フリングホルニ), also known as the '''Maritime Academic Institutions Special District''' (海上学術機関特区) and more commonly refered to as the '''School District''' (学区), is an educational institution.

==Information==
The School District is dedicated to forming its students for different disciplines. The initial reason for its foundation was to gather many talented people from all over the world in [[Orario]]. [[Lefiya Viridis|Lefiya]] is considered the greatest achievement in the school's history.

They are also considered one of the world powers, and are often sent out to deal with international conflicts when the need arises which is where their students also get the experience needed to rank up. They are known to travel around the world to places such as the Empire, Altena, Meilstora and many more. However, they return to Orario every three years to renew and repair the ship.

[[Minor Characters#Artemis|Artemis]] mentioned that their fighting strength is superior to her familia's. Proof of this is the presence of [[Leon Vardenburg]], who is a prominent combatant known for his more than remarkable strength even by Orario's standards. Seven years ago, with the help of [[Zald]] and [[Alfia]], they erected a barrier to ward off a yet unknown danger, which was considered too powerful for the world to overcome by the former adventurers. Although major details are unknown, the duo mentioned the existence of a few small beings and a large one. They also have a relationship with the [[Minor Familia#Artemis Familia|Artemis Familia]].

Originally, the ship was a sea fortress designed to serve in the subjugation of the [[Monsters#Leviathan|Leviathan]], in which it played an important role along with the [[Minor Familia#Poseidon Familia|Poseidon Familia]].

==Structure==

The School District is the largest ship in the world with a 700 meter diameter and a scale comparable to that of a large city. The hull is made up of three huge discs: the '''control layer''' ({{Rubi|制御層|コントロール・レイヤー}}), the '''life layer''' ({{Rubi|居住層|ライブ・レイヤー}}), and the '''academic layer''' ({{Rubi|学園層|アカデミック・レイヤー}}). Each layer has a cylindrical shape and is over 20 meter tall. It includes a huge living area built on both the sea and ship, and the crew number reaches 10,000.

Drawing the shape of a circle, it is inappropriate to call it a "hull" and it is more appropriate to call it a "floating ship". With 500 large buoyancy generators made from magic stones attached to the bottom, the ship manages to float just above the surface of the sea and travel around the world. The majestic spectacle is the crystallization of the magic stone production technology that Labyrinth City Orario prides itself on.

The bow, whose shape is reminiscent of the head of a bird of light, is designed to operate in a 360-degree range and fulfills the role of a propulsion device. Like the buoyancy generators, it is also a product created from magic stones, and is currently the only propulsion force field generator in existence in the world. In addition to that, one of the outer parts, the dimmer that looks like a magnificent shuttlecock, is a drop item from the Leviathan, the Leviathan Blue Fin.

Since it is the top layer, the academic layer has a view of the sky and is bathed in sunlight. Each facility, such as school buildings, large stadiums and all other buildings, form a beautiful symmetry. Rising in the center is a tower similar to [[Babel]] which is the bridge and is named '''Breiðablik''' ({{Rubi|神殿塔|ブレイザブリク}}).

The control layer looks different from the life and academic layers. There are exposed tubes and it has metal walls along with the scent of test medicine combined with that of lubricating oil and lemon. The zone is the heart of the School District where Hringhorni's control area is located and where the Mixing, Alchemy and Mystery labs are concentrated.

The ship is compared to various things by those who see it, including "a dragon's majestic back", and its magnificent appearance is the envy of the entire Lower World. Despite the fact that it travels around the world, it is not possible to house it in any port due to its colossal dimensions, so when they visit a country or city, the ship usually stays off shore and uses a large bridge to connect to a port. The only way for them to land is to build a port specifically for Hringhorni, with the only one of its kind being found in [[Melen]].

==Education==
Among the various disciplines they teach are administrative work, blacksmithing, alchemy, and combat. Regardless of what profession students choose, the District appears to be highly qualified in training them for such positions, as [[Eina Tulle|Eina]] learned to read hieroglyphs, the language of the Gods, and several of its students have been able to level up during their academic lives.

Anyone between the ages of 6 to 18 is eligible to enter as a student. The School District does not have a fixed curriculum. Its purpose is to help students discover what path they want to take in life. Once the Gods and teachers determine they are ready, students can graduate at any time, even in as little as three months.

They travel all over the world and every time they stop somewhere they recruit new students and those who decide it is time to graduate leave the institution. It is apparently in high demand as they receive a lot of applications, having 1,200 applicants and only 6 openings when Lefiya applied to enter.

During their visit to Orario the students train in the [[dungeon]] as several of them want to become adventurers. They are usually only allowed to go as far as the 15th Floor, but on some occasions a squad may be given special permission to go further. Students are in high demand for small and medium sized familias, but it is still difficult for them to join an important familia.

==Organization==
The school is a coalition of multiple familias. [[Baldr]] serves as the director, but there is no hierarchy between familias, so there are no relationships of superiority or inferiority. Unlike in the rest of the world, each familia within the school is referred to as a '''Class''' (クラス). The teachers of the institution are the equivalent of captains and executives while the prefects are the equivalent of secondary executives, such as the second army of the [[Loki Familia]], and the students are analogous to normal members.

Those who wish to engage in combat form teams of four known as squads. The 7th Squad consists of highly capable students in the area of combat skills, which is because in the past the students assigned to this squad often ended up being the best team, and since it happened so frequently, it ended up being called the elite unit. The current 3rd Squad was the worst in the entire institute and they were even called the worst in history. However, instead of being made up of bad students, [[Luke Fowl|Luke]] pointed out that its problem was that they were not good at teamwork. They demonstrated considerable improvement after their time with [[Bell Cranel|Bell]].
