Thanatos (タナトス) was the head of the Thanatos Familia and a member of Evilus. He is a God that presides over death.
Appearance[]
Thanatos is a tall God with long, smooth dark purple hair and eyes. He wears a long and tattered black robe with gray designs and purple edges.
Personality[]
Despite being a member of Evilus, Thanatos has a laid back and frivolous personality along with a gloomy aura. However, while acting like a God of Evilus, he behaved more dignified and gave off a bewitching aura. Nonetheless, behind scenes he showed that maintaining said countenance was demanding for him, mentioning that his shoulders ached from his job, and even asked Valletta if she would do his job for him.
He was not hostile towards anyone and kept his calm demeanor all the time. Even when he met Lefiya he remained normal and had a conversation with her. He also wasn't secretive at all and was quite clear about his goals, honestly answering all of her questions. He had a playful side and could behave in a childish or immature way. He also refered to all children with the suffix chan, including people like Revis.
As the God of Death, Thanatos was passionate about his work in Heaven to purify souls to allow them to reincarnate and diligently carried out his work. However, with the coming of the Age of the Gods Thanatos found the number of people dying dropping significantly. Motivated by his love to his work, Thanatos ended up wanting to increase the number of deaths, this being the reason for him to join Evilus. His ambition not motivated by a yearning for chaos or the desire to spread suffering, but by a simple and genuine devotion to his task.
In order to recruit more members for his Familia, he proved to be someone manipulative who took advantage of people's pain and sadness to convince them to join him. However, in spite of how low methods might seem, he never resorted to lying. Although he attracted followers under the premise of reuniting them with their loved ones when they reincarnated, he always pointed out to them that by then they would have lost the memories of their previous lives. He found their attachment to them curious and even commented in a playful way on the belief of some that they could preserve their memories.
Thanatos expressed great interest in people with a deep darkness within them. Being so, he pointed out the "monster" that laid inside Barca, a quality which he found quite splendid, and led him to have a particular liking for the descendant of Daedalus. Likewise, he took an interest in a young Ais because of the black flame within her and the intense smell of death he proclaimed emanated from her, having sought to recruit her.
Despite the method in which he recruited them and the way of being of certain members, Thanatos truly loved his Familia. While Lefiya felt that she was mocking his subordinates' hope of remembering their loved ones after reincarnating, he corrected her, noting that he genuinely hoped that their wishes would be fulfilled. Likewise, he was upset when he realized how Enyo had used his Familia and discarded them once he decided they were no longer useful to him. At the same time, he showed a certain pride, as he ultimately committed suicide to open an escape route for the Loki Familia as revenge against Enyo for using him as well.
