The Prophet's Struggle (予言者の奮闘) is a short story included in the compilation of short stories from the main series released as part of the ninth of ten projects of the 10th Anniversary Campaign of DanMachi.

Summary[]

Desperate to save her companions, Cassandra spoke to everyone, except Daphne, one by one trying to convince them to give up on going to the Lower Floors. However, each one dismissed her claims that she actually had prophetic dreams. Even her attempt to fool them with reports of other monsters like the Moss Huge Irregular they faced ended up failing.

Cassandra cried as she relived the same pain and rejection she had experienced before when trying to convince others that she could see the future. Still, she was determined to avoid the coming "calamity" and went to the only person she had yet to speak to, Haruhime. While her warnings had been of no use, she believed that if Renard was the one to say something, Aisha, the leader of the group, might be willing to listen.

Instead of mentioning that she had had a horrible prophetic dream, Cassandra chose to first interest her in what she had to say and asked her if she had ever had a dream that came true. Haruhime's intrigued expression motivated Cassandra to go on and tell her that she herself used to have dreams that came true. She commented that the auras of them both, or perhaps their magic powers, their souls, or their "roots", were so similar that it was as if they were twins, or rather that they were "friends forever" as the Gods would say. Cassandra said that was why she thought that perhaps she too had dreams that became true.

Cassandra saw a ray of hope when Haruhime replied that she had once had one and asked her to tell her about it. The prophet however was baffled when the Renard told her that in her dream she had mistakenly entered the men's and women's bathroom after Bell finished training and the two of them accidentally ended up passing out naked in each other's arms until they were found by the rest of the women of her Familia.

Haruhime embarrassedly admitted that she didn't know if it had been a dream or reality and commented that she wanted to be hugged until she melted as if it were a continuation of that dream, while Cassandra tried to get her to tell her the details of her "dream", having completely forgotten her initial goal. Their apologetic cries soon echoed as they were scolded by Aisha and Lili for getting distracted. After that, Cassandra's face remained blushed for a while and she kept stealing glances at Bell and Haruhime repeatedly with her concentration disturbed until at one point she "reset".
