Words of the Wind (風の言葉) is a short story given to those who purchased a digital version of volume 14 of DanMachi.
The story was later adapted in Memoria Freese to promote the twelfth episode of the fourth season of the anime.
Summary[]
One day, after their training, a curious Bell asked Ais what the Deep Floors were like. Ais expressed that it was a terrible place and even if she told him he wouldn't be able to understand it. Though, if he went there, he would understand.
She then told him he should not lose hope if he went there, explaining to him that the Dungeon would drive him to despair, and it was hope that would allow him to overcome the despair, to not give up. Ais muttered that she copied what Finn told her, while Bell was lost in her words.
Ais thought back to her first experience in the Deep Floors, before appreciating the look of the surface. Ais added that if she teamed up with Bell, she believed she could get hope from him, which made him happy, until she expressed how she wanted to protect his panicking self, dejecting him with her honesty. Still, seeing her smile, Bell felt happy. He wanted to be able to see her smile again and wondered if that could become his hope.
Waking up in the 37th floor, Bell asked Ryuu about the monster. Once she told him it wasn't close, Bell reflected over his dream, thanking Ais for her words. Bell didn't remember everything, but he knew that he needed to hold on to hope.
As he made his way out of the room they were in along with Ryuu, both supporting each other, Bell felt the courage he got from Ryuu and the hope from Ais overlap. He resolved himself to not lose hope and get back to the surface with Ryuu.
